Why should we journal and what are the benefits?

There are many benefits to journaling and I have been journaling now for many years. I like to think of my journal like my best friend, a space where I can be free to write down anything and everything with complete honesty and without fear of failure or judgement. It’s a place that I can simply be and express my worries and concerns as well as my deepest dreams and desires. There are no limitations when it comes to journaling and there is no right or wrong.

This is your safe space.

When we write down our thoughts, feelings and emotions we create space in the mind and we are able to release and let go of any negativity that we may be holding onto. It helps to relieve stress and anxiety whilst also creating clarity and calm.

Journaling also helps you to track your behaviours and your habits so that you can focus on what’s positively influencing your life so that you can let go of the behaviours or bad habits that maybe aren’t in alignment with what you want to achieve or want to become.

Writing about what is truly important to you can help to build a deeper understanding and connection to yourself on a personal level.

Soul Focus Journaling Prompts:

  • Journal about the three most important things in your life right now
  • What are your biggest fears or concerns in these areas and how can you release them?
  • What three habits can you let go of that aren’t benefiting you? And what three rituals could you replace them with to help you get to where you want to be?
  • What are you grateful for in your life right now? These don’t have to be big things, they can be as simple as your cup of coffee this morning or the birds singing outside your window.

Journal about whatever is on your mind and let yourself be open and free.
