2 ½ years ago, I would wake up feeling totally exhausted and literally dreading the day ahead. I was in a totally different place in my life back then, but one of the biggest and most positive changes I made was giving myself a good morning and evening routine.
This doesn’t have to be complicated or time consuming. The best way is to keep it simple and effective and to have a routine that you can stick too…even in the mists of a busy schedule and unexpected challenges that come your way. In actual fact, this is when I need my routine the most. It helps set me set myself up to face what ever is thrown my way. It helps me to stay grounded and centred and to become clear on what I want to achieve at the end of my day.
Note to self: things not to do when I first wake up.
• Scroll through social media and start comparing myself and my life to others
• Check my emails and start stressing about all the work I still have to do.
• Start my day stressing about the day ahead without any focus, awareness and intention.
The best morning routine is the one that works for you! I’m sharing mine in the hope that it will give you some ideas and inspiration, but there is no right or wrong. Feel free to take from it what you like and explore and experiment with new and exciting ways to start your day…
🔆 WAKE UP ( 5 minutes )
I set my alarm for 5.30am every morning, which gives me around 1 ½ hours before my little girls wakes up and my attention is on her *Apart from weekends and then I get up at 6.30am.
I always drink a pint of water and make myself a herbal tea. Nettle and peppermint is my favourite 🌿
🎯 FOCUS & INTENTION ( 5-10 minutes )
I ask myself the same questions every morning… “What do I want to achieve today? What am I going to focus on and why is it important to me?”
Set your goals for the day and reinforce the reason it’s important to you, this helps create clarity and motivation. Write it down in your Goddess Guide or journal as a remind that you can reflect on throughout your day.
🧘🏻♀️MEDITATION ( 10 minutes )
I always start with the Soul Focus short ‘Morning Awakening Meditation’ to welcome the new day and all the possibilities and opportunities it brings. This short meditation is less than 10 minutes and super charges my emotional and energetic vibration, to awaken my inner Goddess.
💃🏼 MOVE THE BODY ( 12-20 minutes )
I like to do a short 20 minute morning yoga routine to release any blockages, stretch and awaken my body. Sometimes I will also do a short 15 minute more intense workout. I listen to my body, what I need and how I am feeling that day. I always do something, even if it’s a short 15 minute walk to breath in some fresh air. You will see amazing results both physically and mentally if you commit to this. Dancing is also a good one. Isla’s (my daughters) favourite song to dance to whilst cleaning our teeth and getting dressed in the mornings is ‘shivers’ by Ed Sheehan 🤣💕
✨ STIMULATE YOUR MIND ( 5 minutes )
I repeat my morning Mantra’s that I have written down in my Goddess Guide at the start of each week. Or you could repeat your affirmations, mission statement. This practice helps to reinforce your positive thoughts and beliefs systems, and empower you on a deeper soul level. I also repeat these to myself in the car when driving back from dropping Isla at school 😍
🫐 NOURISH YOUR BODY ( 20 minutes )
Isla and I eat breakfast together every morning at around 7-7.30am. I like to eat a healthy plant based breakfast with either lots of fruit or creamy oat milk porridge on those colder days. I top with maple syrup and banana and a sprinkle of seeds. This keeps me fuller for longer and stops me snacking on foods that aren’t good for me and cause me to crash later on in my day.
👩 FACIAL / SKIN CARE ( 5 -10 minutes )
I always take the time to cleanse and moisturise my face and my body using natural plant based, gentle skin care products that are kind to the planet as well as to my skin. Taking this time to lovingly apply these products renews and revitalises my skin and mentally reminds me to take care of my mind, body and soul both internally and externally.
🙌 WORK / PURPOSE
Now I am ready to start my day and focus on what it is that I want to achieve and the life that I want to create. I can act in alignment with my heart and my soul and enjoy my life to the fullest.
